About me
A father of 3, financial advisor & life enjoyer

Miro Porlezza
I was born in 1959, the eldest of four children. I grew up in Zofingen, in the canton of Aargau, where I attended primary school and then the Bezirksschule – the academically oriented secondary school typical of the Swiss system.
I've made it a guiding principle of life to embarrass myself at least once a day. It's the only way to guarantee a willingness to keep seeking out new paths and actually taking them. At the same time, it keeps me constantly ready to learn – and keeps me humble.
To this day I feel a strong bond with Zofingen and regularly visit my siblings and their families, all of whom have stayed loyal to the town. I am the father of three and currently live with my partner in our house in Schlatt (Zürich).
A life without reading is hardly imaginable to me. Alongside the news of the day, I have a keen curiosity about history and its influence on our society today – something I occasionally enjoy weaving into newspaper articles and notes.
As the grandson of a wine merchant, a love of culinary pleasures was instilled in me from the cradle, and for that I'm deeply grateful. A good meal with a fine glass of wine – and, as the crowning touch, perhaps a cigar – is always welcome.
Humor has also remained a faithful companion of mine – anything from subtle to sharp and sarcastic suits me fine. When it's aimed at me, I have thick skin; when I'm the one talking, my mouth sometimes runs faster than my brain. But a day without a good hearty laugh is, to me, a day wasted.
Languages fascinate me too, not just as a means of communication but as carriers of culture. Reading literary works often sets the soul vibrating – a wonderful state to be in. A lively, even controversial discussion is also always welcome, and pairs beautifully with a cigar and a good cognac, whisky, or wine.
